On a hidden street, just south of Soho, behind a pair of inconspicuous doors, Sugar throws a shamelessly fun party almost every night of the week. Somewhere between the specialty drinks, the DJs and the dancing, guests find themselves having a highly memorable evening. Sugar's trademark B-day parties have generated a buzz that has turned Sugar into one of the most sought after venues for hosting large parties and cozy dinners. The attitude at Sugar is warm and inviting: the aesthetic is 1950s Palm Springs, Danish Modern: the music is a masterful high-energy mix of everything from rock and roll, and eighties to hip hop, chill out, house, funk, and classics, and the vibe (most importantly) is fun and uninhibited. A perfectly sized bi-level bar, lounge and restaurant that holds upwards of 300 people, Sugar is small enough to feel intimate and large enough to be intriguing and comfortable. A stunning floating bar, soaring ceilings, banquette lined sculpture walls, flattering dim lights and a state of the art sound system, and movie screen, create a visually stimulating party den.

This eclectic Tribeca spot is lined with African fertility masks, orange couches and white Lucite tables. On the lower level, the aptly titled Sweet and Low has its own separate sound system and vibe. The space is often packed, especially on Wednesday's game nights with Monopoly, Jenga, Connect Four and Twister. Specialty cocktails--such as the Dark and Stormy, made with rum, muddled limes and ginger beer--and a full dinner menu are available.

The cocktails are awful, the staff cops an attitude, the food is terrible, and the place as a whole is so five years ago...better to hit a Blarney Stone!
