cmon Remy check out this place on st marks... thats what a friend said. I retesponded- lets not. But to no avail we entered. It was atually not to bad for st marks. was a bit crowded when we want. It looks like a nicer interior from the outside but bsides that, if you just want to chill out with a few friends, not a bad spot. the beats were mellow early in the evening but tend to get a bit loud as the night progresses.

A far better example of the popularization of high design than a must-stop on a pub crawl. With a nod to uber-chic spots like Issey Miyake's Pleats Please shop in SoHo, Tribe makes liberal use of frosted, treated windows which only allow passers-by a peek in from a particular angle. There are other impressive tricks like water-refracted light projections and constantly shifting colored gels, but otherwise, the bar is constructed like a Ramada Inn (especially the bathroom), with hideously upholstered banquettes and cafeteria-issue bar stools. The sound system is great and the DJs can hit the spot, but the crowd often doesn't. However, if you want a good place to make out with your date in relative obscurity, look no further.
