Korova Milk Bar is an object lesson in the first rule of cool: Don't try too hard. They did. The name is taken from the bar that Alex and his cronies frequent in "A Clockwork Orange," and it doesn't stop there: The owners have decided to deck out the long, spacious interior with various gimmicks reminiscent of Anthony Burgess' ultraviolence. Thus there's a pale white mannequin hanging in the window next to the entrance, hair extending from her scalp like she's just had an electric shock, with several more inside. There are a few of Alex and co's slang words jutting in stark white relief from the all-black walls. There's an area partially fenced off by brass railings which contains a few of those curvy couches from "2001." They're playing "Silence of the Lambs" on the multi TV screens above the bar. Not surprisingly, it all feels a bit desperate when there's only ten people in the place, but on the nights when Korova draws the kind of East Village freaks who match the decor, it's just fine. DJs regularly. —Ben Williams (Source: Citysearch.com)

I think Korova is great....yeah, the decor is a little strange, but this keeps away the yuppy crowd. How can you beat a Corona and a shot of Cuervo or a Rolling Rock and a shot of Jack for $5? exactly.....you can't....if nothing else, this place is great to go and have many drinks for a low price before really starting off the night....

i guess it's safe to assume that ben williams also documented the closest train to KOROVA is the 6 (when it's actually the L train to first avenue), only proving that someone not familiar with the area, or the actual intentions of the space should not be sharing "vanilla" views for the masses. freaks? according to?
