The folks at Kanvas have followed the lounge formula to the letter, with two floors of comfy banquettes, low, well-designed lighting and a kitchen serving everything from quesadillas to a lobster club. New work from the art-rich West Chelsea neighborhood rotates through the space every three weeks. The local mix of boheme and bank is obvious in the after-work crowd as artists mingle with suits. I lived right around the corner from Kanvas since 4 years. i felt the obligation to say something after reading these ridiculous reviews specifically naming the restaurant manager? what's up with that? from what i see, the place is crazy busy and there's always a line outside on weekends. he must be doing something right....? they have a great happy hour and i did note their attention to detail the last 6 months or so.

Up until recently I would have recommended Kanvas to anyone and everyone. The bar/lounge itself is great with its half priced happy hour, delicious appetizers, ambiance, friendly staff and music. Unfortunately, the new manager, Dylan, has an arrogant, rude, unprofessional attitude that makes me reconsider suggesting this spot. He thrives on imposing his ridiculous rules on certain individuals making it difficult to enjoy an otherwise great experience. If you decide to visit Kanvas, beware of the manager's offensive, atrocious behavior and lack of people skills.

I totally agree with you. I have experienced the same rude, arrogant attitude from Dylan and he completed ruined the entire evening for me and my party.
