Very cool little spot! Cover featured bar in the recently published: New York City's Best Dive Bars, by Wendy Mitchell. Great barstaff, very wide mix of interesting, down to earth patrons. Cheap drinks, a happy hour, daily shot specials, many moods of great tunes with a MP3 jukebox and always a good energy. Think "grandma's place", a little tack yet completly comfortable.

Actors, writers, laborers,inteligentsia, druggies, weirdo types, hipsters, smokers... you get a mixed bag of tricks at this bar with friendly bartenders and even friendlier patrons. If you're looking to hang out with the type of people who watch for their own reflecion in your eyes, keep stepping, but if you're looking for cheap drinks, great conversation and lively banter....hang out at Johnny's bar. You're sure to have a good time and if you can't have a good time there, well...you might want to check your pulse.
