If you are looking for a club with clientelle of little to no interest go ere. Might be good if you bring the crowd because the party here was not to thrilling. The guys were dicks at the door for no reason and once in, the main room played techno seperated by a curtain to a small hip hop section. Pass on this club. Pay your cover somewhere else.

This kind of haunt either impresses or distresses. Multicolored spotlights shine down on a multicultural mass that orgiastically gyrates on the main room's massive dance floor. While some would dismiss this spot as tired and filled with wannabes, Discotheque isn't meant to appeal to judgmental hipsters. Instead, it provides a venue for fun-loving 20-something partygoers to get down to hip-hop, techno and house in a kitschy, overdone space punctuated by prints of black-and-white faces peering out from massive keyholes, as if spying on a tantalizing scene. DISCOTHEQUE's best night has to be after-hours opening at 4am to 3pm on Sundays, certainly the place to be for those of us who miss the Sound Factory days. The high-energy crowd makes it one of the best nights out in town with truly intoxicating sounds by reknown Djs and simple but by no means boring lighting system. Yes, security staff mainly can be difficult at times and not exactly the nicest at any given time. But honestly, most security staff has to be that way to be taken seriously by their clientele, however, Discotheque's security staff attitude and some other staff is a bit over the top, for a fact, I know people who work at other nightclubs in NYC that are not exactly fond of Discotheque, not due to the venue but due to the unfriendly, rude and hot-tempered approach of its staff. DISCOTHEQUE COULD BE THE GREATEST CLUB IN NYC IF ONLY ITS STAFF WAS REPLACED BY A FRIENDLIER, PERHAPS MORE PROFESSIONAL STAFF. Overall, I recommend it to anyone who is a party-animal, this is not for amateur, occassional party-goer but for the hardcore, hot party girl/boy and everything else in between! Go on Sundays afterhours (4am-3pm)
