Detour

Detour is a comfortable and casual jazz bar in the East Village. The small but cozy space is dimly lit, with tile floors and 50s movie posters covering the walls. Both live and pre-recorded jazz music represents a range of styles from the traditional to the eclectic. There is no cover (always a plus) but they do have a two-drink minimum, which is quite reasonable, considering most drinks are about $5. The beer selection is above average, including hard to find brews like Rhinegold.
